October 13, 2025, Tel Aviv, Israel: Tens of thousands of Israelis assemble at Hostage Square, some having spent the night, to experience the joy of the hostages' release together, viewing live events on large screens. Spectators react as they shift from despair, to anxiety and to pure joy and relief. Twenty live hostages were released and the process of repatriating the bodies of 28 murdered Israelis has begun after 737 days in Hamas captivity in Gaza, kidnapped on October 7th, 2023. October 13, 2025, Tel Aviv, Israel: Tens of thousands of Israelis assemble at Hostage Square, some having spent the night, to experience the joy of the hostages' release together, viewing live events on large screens. Spectators react as they shift from despair, to anxiety and to pure joy and relief. Twenty live hostages were released and the process of repatriating the bodies of 28 murdered Israelis has begun after 737 days in Hamas captivity in Gaza, kidnapped on October 7th, 2023. This prisoner exchange, the first phase of the Trump administration's multi part 20 point peace plan, secured the release of all remaining hostages in exchange for Israel freeing approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. The deal, which also mandated an immediate ceasefire and a phased Israeli troop withdrawal to pre designated lines within Gaza, came into effect on October 10, 2025. Diwali Festival Preparations In Amritsar, India
October 15, 2025, Amritsar, Punjab, India: An Indian artisan paints freshly made Diya or earthen lamps at their home workshop, to be sold ahead of the Diwali festival in Amritsar, India. A Diya, also known as Deep, is a small earthen lamp made of clay that is commonly lit during Diwali, the festival of lights. In Hindu culture, lighting a Deep with ghee or oil during the Aarti ritual is a traditional practice. Pope Leo XIV Receives Purebred Arabian White Horse As A Gift
October 15, 2025, Vatican City, Vatican: POPE LEO XIV receives a purebred Arabian horse as a gift at the Vatican. Proton, a purebred Arabian, was given to the Pope by Andrzej Michalski, owner and founder of the Michalski Stud Farm, in Kolobrzeg-Budzistowo, Poland. Proton's father came from the United States, and his mother was bought from a princess in Jordan.
